Terms of Service

1. What Taxneti is

Taxneti is a marketplace. We help businesses and individuals in Nigeria find certified tax consultants, and we give consultants a place to be found. We provide the introduction and the tools around it - search, requests, quotes and reviews.

2. Accounts and eligibility

• You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract under Nigerian law.
• The information you give at sign-up must be accurate, and you must keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for your password and for everything done through your account.
• One person or entity per account. Do not share credentials or impersonate anyone.
• Tell us promptly at support@taxneti.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Consultant verification - what it does and does not mean

Consultants tell us their certifying body and certificate number at sign-up. Before a profile appears in search, our team reviews those details and marks the account verified or rejected.

A verified badge means we checked the certification details supplied. It is not a guarantee of quality, competence, availability, or of any particular outcome, and it is not our endorsement or recommendation. You remain responsible for satisfying yourself that a consultant is right for your situation - including asking for credentials directly and confirming them with the relevant professional body.

Consultants must hold and maintain valid certification, tell us promptly if their status lapses, and comply with their professional body's rules. We may suspend or remove any profile where certification cannot be confirmed or has been misrepresented.

4. The engagement is between you and the consultant

This is the most important term in this document. When you accept a quote, the resulting engagement is a contract between you and that consultant only. Taxneti is not a party to it.

That means:

• We do not supervise the work.Scope, quality, timeliness and professional conduct are the consultant's responsibility, not ours.
• We do not guarantee any outcome. The quote and counter-offer tools record what was proposed. We are not a party to what you agree.

5. Paying through Taxneti

Consultations agreed on Taxneti are paid for through the platform, using our payment provider Paystack. This section explains exactly where your money goes.

How a payment moves

1. You and the consultant agree a price using the quote tools.
2. You pay that amount through Paystack's secure checkout.
3. The money is held, not passed on. It is not sent to the consultant yet. Paystack collects the payment and settles it to Taxneti, and we hold it against your consultation until the work is confirmed. We do not treat it as our own money, and your card details never reach us.
4. The consultant carries out the work and marks it complete.
5. You confirm the work is done, which releases the money to the consultant. If you do not respond, it releases automatically after 2 days. We email you before that happens.

Our fee

Taxneti charges consultants 7%of each completed consultation, deducted from the amount released to them. Payment processing charges are also deducted from the consultant's share. Clients pay only the agreed price - we add nothing on top.

Consultants: getting paid

• You must add valid bank details before you can be paid. Accounts are verified before use.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of those details. We cannot recover money sent to an account you entered incorrectly.
• You are responsible for your own tax on what you earn. Taxneti does not withhold or remit tax on your behalf.

If something goes wrong

• Raise it before the money releases. If the work was not done, or not as agreed, report it through the platform during the 2-day window and the funds stay put while we look into it.
• After release we have far less room to help. Once the money has reached the consultant, recovering it is a matter between the two of you.
• Refunds are at our discretion and decided case by case. We may refund in full or in part where work was clearly not delivered. We are not an arbitrator of professional judgement, and we will not adjudicate whether advice was correct.
• Paying outside Taxneti is at your own risk. None of the protections above apply to money moved directly between you.

6. Reviews

• Only a client who has completed a consultation may review that consultant.
• Reviews must reflect your genuine, first-hand experience.
• Do not post anything false, defamatory, abusive, or containing personal data about anyone - and do not include confidential financial details in a review.
• Consultants may not offer anything in exchange for a review, write reviews of themselves, or arrange reviews from people who were never clients.
• We may remove reviews that breach these terms. We do not remove a review simply because its subject dislikes it.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Taxneti for anything unlawful, or to facilitate tax evasion or fraud
• Send requests you have no genuine intention of pursuing, or spam consultants
• Misrepresent your identity, business, qualifications or certification
• Scrape, harvest or bulk-collect consultant details from the platform
• Attempt to access accounts, data or areas of the platform you are not authorised to reach
• Interfere with the platform's operation or security, or probe it without our written consent
• Upload malicious code, or anything infringing someone else's rights

8. Content you provide

You keep ownership of what you write - your profile, request descriptions and reviews. You grant Taxneti a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and display that content for the purpose of operating the platform. You confirm you have the right to provide it and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

9. Availability

We aim to keep Taxneti available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may carry out maintenance without notice. The platform is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent Nigerian law permits.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Taxneti is not liable for any loss arising from:

• Advice, services, acts or omissions of any consultant found through the platform
• Fees, deposits or payments made directly between users
• Tax liabilities, penalties or interest assessed against you by any authority
• Business interruption, lost profits, lost data, or indirect or consequential loss

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Taxneti against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the platform, or your infringement of another party's rights.

12. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, misrepresents certification, or presents a risk to other users. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

Sections 4, 9, 10 and 13 survive termination.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why, and forms part of these terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform develops. The date at the top reflects the current version, and we will notify registered users by email of material changes. Continuing to use Taxneti after a change means you accept the updated terms.
